Precautions
Before taking Biaxin (Clarithromycin), tell your doctor if you have ever had liver or kidney disease, myasthenia gravis, a heart rhythm disorder, or if you take certain medications such as telithromycin, nelfinavir, or erythromycin. Do not take Biaxin (Clarithromycin) if you are allergic to it or any other macrolide antibiotics such as erythromycin, azithromycin, or telithromycin.
Contraindications

Possible side effect
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Biaxin (Clarithromycin): hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain; diarrhea that is watery or bloody; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips; seizure (convulsions); shortness of breath; or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Drug interaction
Tell your doctor about all other medications you use, especially: cisapride, pimozide, digoxin, triazolam, dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, carbamazepine, theophylline, cyclosporine, warfarin, calcium channel blockers, phenytoin, tacrolimus, or sildenafil.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Biaxin (Clarithromycin), take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea.
Storage
Store Biaxin (Clarithromycin) at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
